Being a Host
Being an Event Host for the Global House Party
This event is open and decentralized. While we are all coordinating to support racial justice, each hosted event is its own fully autonomous project and is open to anyone inspired to host and coordinate with their local community. We hope that each host and event feels inspired to add whatever personal creativity, inspiration, touches, or action to their party as well as graciously coordinate with local events. (The last thing we want is for any offerings from this event to be in conflict with any local community events. Be a good community member and let's all coordinate, be gracious, and work together!)

Coordinating Between Parties
Our hope is that the parties, while separate and unique, feel unified. Feel free to coordinate with other parties, post photos and video of your party on the Facebook event and help us draw a fun and interactive web of community across the globe through this one event.
Tickets + On Site Donations
All online donations will be collected central ticket link.
All proceeds will go directly to Black Lives Matter unless local hosts decide to donate their party funds to another local, grassroots, POC-led organization doing racial justice work in their community. Email theglobalhouseparty@gmail.com to nominate your local organization ASAP.
Individual GHP Hosts can collect on-site cash or online payments and make an additional donation online after-the-fact. Parties can organize raffles with giveaways, pay-by-the-plate dinner parties, a bar with special drinks, interactive games between parties, generously donating proceeds from an already scheduled dance — just a few of the great ideas already in the works. Let us know how we can be of service to help your event and offerings be as big as a success as possible and we will do everything we can. Email theglobalhouseparty@gmail.com for any help or post on the GHP Facebook event.
Your Party's Facebook Event
Making a Facebook Event for your individual party is highly encouraged! Links to the individual Facebook events will be publicized on this site and on a centralized Global House Party FB Event. Official Fusion Party Room (Dubtrack.fm)
TEST Blues Room (Dubtrack. fm)
TEST Fusion Room (Dubtrack. fm)
We will use Dubtrack.fm as the platform for our live streaming. We've started Global House Party Test Rooms, where you can create an account and log into the rooms to try them out. Any party that wants to be tuned into either station need reliable Wifi, or much preferably, a wired ethernet connection, can live stream from the Official Blues or Fusion Room links (above). They can also feel free to tune in or tune out as they please.
DJing (more info here)
If you are a DJ for the Global House Party, you will have a specific time slot when you will be slotted to DJ. You will cue up songs from either YouTube or SoundCloud through your Blues or Fusion Global House Party Room. If you DJ through SoundCloud.com, feel free to record your own personalized "welcome" track, introducing your set and local party, give a shout out to other parties, add thank yous, or love for your party's benefitting organization, or add a closing track passing the torch to the next DJ and city.
Come the day of the event, we will have a Facebook group chat between all of the DJs and hosts so that we can all stay up to date on current happenings, stay seamlessly coordinated between DJs, and troubleshoot anything that may come up.

Thank you! This event would be nothing without you. Here is some more information:
Second, a list of 10 simple things to make your party, the fundraising goals, and the intention of this global event successful. These are just suggestions, pick the ones that best fits your local event, be creative, be passionate, and make up your own!
Suggestions to fortify this aim: Identify people at the party who are plugged into POC-led events and issues in town. Have one be the point person to compile an email sign-up / quality list of local action-oriented Facebook groups (i.e. “#blacklivesmatter Seattle Action Group”) to plug in people who want to engage with or donate to other POC-led organizations in the city. How will our efforts go beyond March 25 and move towards lasting change?
Thirdly, how the party and donations will work:
Thank you everyone who is throwing down big to make this event happen. It's inspiring to see our global community really rallying behind such an important issue, and in such a cool way!
- Specific Asks of you ASAP
- Ideas to make your local event successful
- How donations and the party will actually work
- Confirm and update your event info on this page (address, links, contacts, etc.).
- Boost the Global FB event page
with excited posts about your specific party, interesting links, chatter, local party promo, invites, photos, etc. It was closed for hosts to organize, but now let's flood it!
- Help gather Global Auction Donations. Send all donation descriptions to theglobalhouseparty@gmail.com with [AUCTION] in the title: e.g. private lessons, event tickets, bodywork, fancy dinners, books, CDs, etc. Or, add items directly here.
- THIS is the confirmed party list as of now. If you know of scenes not yet involved and you think should be, reach out to them! Anyone can host, my Mom even wanted to host a fundraiser dinner party in Lawrence, Kansas, with her friends, before the final date landed on their wedding anniversary.... this is not a dancer issue, it's a human issue.
- If you have a local organization you want your local money to go to, get it to us ASAP!!
Second, a list of 10 simple things to make your party, the fundraising goals, and the intention of this global event successful. These are just suggestions, pick the ones that best fits your local event, be creative, be passionate, and make up your own!
- Make a Facebook Event for your local event. Reach out to dancers, and anyone who cares about racial justice, about getting actively involved in helping you make your event successful. *Please title the event starting with the city your party is in (i.e. “Copenhagen Global House Party: Racial Justice Fundraiser). Feel free to use the attached GHP photo for your event!
- Door/entry. Don't have an entrance price, but have someone sit at the door with a donation sign, and potentially a laptop with the GHP website/ticket link pulled up, and explaining exactly what this/your party is all about. This will help get more people involved in the party, raises awareness of racial justice issues, and will actually just get people to give money.
- Potluck! Begin the party with a potluck, where everyone brings a dish and it's a suggested donation (sliding scale) to eat.
- BYOB Donations! Have the party be a Bring Your Own Alcohol Donation for the fundraising bar, and that have a bartender sell drinks. (This could raise a lot!)
- Host your own raffle at your party with community donated items.
- Boost the global digital auction we will be hosting for the world to bid on, donate to it, encourage others to donate to it, tune into it.
- Make it personal. Why is this important to us as dancers? As humans? To you? In this specific scary moment in time? And remember, communities of color DON'T need US to save them.
- Engage with the other parties: set up a projector with the FB event page, which will be seeing a post every 10 seconds of videos, comments, love notes, and photos from the thousands of people partying together around the world to the same live stream. Encourage your party to engage and post as well. Have DJs record themselves talking and giving shout outs to be uploaded on their stream between tracks.
- Aim to create structures that build lasting relationships with your local community around issues of racial justice, as well as local organizations doing the real work locally. Should dancing Blues/Fusion be intrinsically linked towards racial justice work? (We certainly think so!)
- And most importantly, make the real effort to hold as inclusive space as possible and make sure that working towards racial justice is an inspiringly great time! Plus, anything you can dream up!
Thirdly, how the party and donations will work:
- Collecting Money. Online donation ticket link is live!!!. People will select what party they are attending so we can properly divide local donations to local organizations. Everything you collect on site in cash you will report to us for record keeping, but then you will make direct donations to the specific organizations.
Thank you everyone who is throwing down big to make this event happen. It's inspiring to see our global community really rallying behind such an important issue, and in such a cool way!
